As God’s precious creatures, we have to take our part to honour and care for our common home. This endeavour has been a main concern for years by Binalbagan Catholic College (BCC). Bur nature is still deteriorating. It has reached an alarming level. So, Pope Francis issued an encyclical, Laudato Si’ six years ago that invited all Catholics to act in preserving our ‘Mother Earth’. This year is the 6th anniversary celebration. In response to the Pope’s invitation to act, BCC and the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM) Congregation launched an activity called ‘Plant Tree’ to our BCC Community Garden and Mini Forest by planting Madre de Cacao and Banana Trees in BCC Isla property three-hectare lot. The said plants were chosen because they can endure the dry season. 20 May, 2021 marked its launch. A short ceremonial introduction about creation was given by Sr Analee Garciano then followed by a prayer. The tree planting activity was first headed by the BCC Administrative Team Members (ATMs). The rest of the BCC employees planted the designated areas. The BCC Community has committed to be part of the healing of our Common Home today and for the future. Creation calls us for sustainable living with passionate care and use of its fruits. We will appreciate God, our great Creator, who has abundantly gifted us with nature’s blessings.
