A meaningful life is not being rich, being popular, being highly educated or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble, being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others in a selfless manner.
This is very much true of our Founder, Venerable Nano Nagle; whose exemplary life is an inspiration for all of us to emulate. Friends of Nano are endeavoring hard to imbibe and internalize these outstanding qualities in both their life and actions. A journey of a hundred miles begins with a single step. Keeping all this in mind, the Members began to take baby steps in spreading the light and love in society.
Without a moment’s delay they embarked upon taking the initiative of launching the YouTube and Facebook page to communicate and illuminate the darkest corners with Nano’s light. E-capsules were launched for English lessons for higher classes and it will be uploaded on YouTube so that it will be accessible for students especially those who can’t afford tuitions. We were able to identify a child and sponsored her education for a year and books and stationery (brand new) for fifteen students in different classes was provided.
Despite a busy schedule, Friends of Nano, Srinigar Unit, started an initiative last month, SAVE BOOKS, SAVE TREES, and requested the students of classes UKG to VII to donate their textbooks of the previous academic session which would be welcomed by the new batch of students in that class. The response was overwhelming! The textbooks poured in for seven consecutive days. Observing the Covid-19 protocol a total of 199 books were collected and distributed by the class teachers along with FoN members in an extremely manner.
Let’s look at the positive outcome; the trees were spared, the resources were preserved, finances were saved and paper waste was reduced; what better way of committing ourselves to the SDGs! The parents welcomed this initiative and were very grateful to the School.
Continuing our efforts, we also took an initiative for a UN Virtual Tour. We sent the link to the interested parents and teachers. We believe some of them took advantage of this and greatly benefitted from this unique opportunity. May God bless each of us and may Venerable Nano’s guiding hand always be with us. May we never cease to grow in wisdom, humility and courage to spread the light of love in the society.
