Presentation School gives Christmas performance for jail inmates - Jammu, India

Back

10/01/2017

As a way of sharing the joy of Christmas,  students, along with sisters and staff members of the Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu, visited various centres, distributed food items and performed Christmas programmes.

to begin

One unique experience was the visit to the Prison in Jammu on 24th December to share the Christmas joy. Four Sisters from our community along with 17 students from our school joined hands with PMI (Prison Ministry of India) and presented a beautiful Cultural programme for the 554 jail inmates and the staff of the prison.

The venue for the programme was beautifully decorated by the Jail inmates. The event began with lighting of candles which was followed by the Cultural programme and Christmas message. Afterwards, portions of cake were distributed to all the inmates.

The following dignitaries were present at the Function: Staff Officer to Director General Prisons, Ms Sabha Shawl (who represented the DGP) DIG Prison, Mr Mohd Sultan Lone and other Officers of the Jail.

It was such a rewarding and unique experience as we were able to bring a smile to the Jail inmates through our programme and interaction with them. We felt that we were sharing the Spirit of Christmas as we reached out to them in love and shared the joy of Christmas.
