Global Day of Parents

The Global Day provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents in all parts of the world for their commitment to thier children and towards towards nurturing this relationship. Parents of every race, religion, culture and nationality in all parts of the world are the primary caregivers and teachers of their children, preparing them for a happy, fulfilling and productive life. Parents are the anchors of the family and the foundation of our communities and societies. As we approach the World Day of Families in 2018, it is good to celebrate the benefits of parenting.

UN International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

The purpose of the day is to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse.

UN World Environment Day

Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2017, ‘Connecting People to Nature’, urges us to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and to think about how we are part of nature and how intimately we depend on it. It challenges us to find fun and exciting ways to experience and cherish this vital relationship.

UN World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day was first introduced in 1992 to raise awareness of the crucial role the sea plays as sources of food, oxygen and medicine. The United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: 'Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development' will be held from 5-9 June 2017. UN World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

WEAAD was first established by the United Nations five years ago in an effort to raise public awareness about elder abuse in its many forms; physical, sexual, psychological, financial, discriminatory and neglect by omission or commission.
Raising public awareness of the issue of elder abuse is vital if this problem is to be tackled.
2017 theme: Understand and End Financial Abuse of Older People: A Human Rights Issue.

This day honors the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homeland under threat of persecution, conflict and violence. Now more than ever, awareness of the plight of the refugee has been brought into our homes with the many tragedies and drownings in recent months and years as people flee war and terror in their own countries.
The 2017 theme is Hospitality and Hope

The Power of Connecting – A Seminar in Nano Nagle Place 

Nano Nagle Place, Cork

A day-long seminar, The Power of Connecting, will be held in Nano Nagle Place which will incorporate ritual/spirituality, heritage and ministry. This date, 23 June 2017, is the Feast of the Sacred Heart, a significant feast day for Nano, with her special devotion to the Sacred Heart.

The seminar will showcase physical and digital examples of Nano’s living heritage and explore technological developments in education.

This event will have a physically-present audience and also belive-streamed, so Presentation Sisters, members of the International Lay Movement and co-workers around the world can link to the events of the day.

Date of Nano’s First Vows with her Three Companions

On 24 June, we mark the date upon which Nano Nagle and her three companions, Mary Ann Collins, Elizabeth Burke and Mary Fouhy, took their religious vows. It is also the Feast of the birth of John the Baptist.

UN Day in Support of Victims of Torture

This day is held to speak out against the crime of torture and to honor and support victims and survivors throughout the world.
